Liberalism, a Political and Religious Synodal Ideology

November 20, 2024

I have often wondered why it is that Conservatives are called the right and Liberals are called the left. The origin of left and right did not originate with politics; it originated in Sacred Scripture. Democrats are proud to call themselves liberals, progressives, on the left, left wingers, or the party of the left. It’s interesting to note that Our Lord Jesus Christ talks about those on his left as those who will be damned to hell and those on his right are the elect, and those will be saved and go to heaven (cf. Matt 25:31-46). St. Dismas was the thief on the right, he repented, and Our Lord told him “truly I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). St. Gestus was the thief on the left; he railed against our Lord as he was dying on the cross. There is no indication that he repented nor that he was saved.

John 21:4-6 says: “Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus.” Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any fish?" They answered him, "No." He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So, they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, for the quantity of fish. And yet another verse in the Bible on right vs left: "A wise man's heart inclines him toward the right, but a fool's heart toward the left" (Eccl 10:2).

Liberalism is a sin; it has been condemned by the Magisterium.[i] An ecclesiastical liberal will be a social moral liberal. The word liberal is a theological term found in the New Advent Catholic encyclopedia and that philosophy has Papal condemnation. The word liberal is a synonym for the word progressive. The word progressive is found New American Catholic Bible 2 John 9. This philosophy is condemned by almighty God. “Anyone who is so progressive as not to remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God; whoever remains in the teaching has the Father and the Son.” Hence the word liberal and progressive are used in Catholic theology and Sacred Scripture.

The Catholic Church’s teachings (most especially on morality) are fixed, permanent, flawless, and perfect, hence they cannot progress. The Church does believe in progress when it comes to science, e.g. more bytes on your hard drive, more reliable cellphones, faster computers, faster airplanes, and better gas mileage on cars etc., but there can be no progress on doctrinal morality.

The word conservative means traditional (2 Thess 2:15) gives us a great interpretation of Sacred Tradition: "Hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours," and “I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I have delivered them to you” (1 Cor 11:2 (RSV).
“Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is living in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us” (2 Thess. 3:6). Jewish Scholar Dennis Prager continually says on his radio program, “whatever liberalism touches, it destroys.”[ii] He’s absolutely spot on!
In a groundbreaking book called The Decline and Fall of the Catholic Church in America, sociologist David Carlin shows that although Vatican II was the flashpoint for change in the Church, the roots of today’s crisis go deeper than anything that happened at the Council. Basing his conclusions on sociological analysis rather than on theology or Church teachings, David Carlin shows that in the 1960’s the Church in America was weakened by the triumph of tolerance as an American virtue (which led Catholics to downplay their uniquely Catholic beliefs for the sake of unity) and then was battered by a culture that, seemingly overnight, had become boldly secularist and even libertine.
Catholics were called by Vatican II to engage the culture in order to evangelize it, while at the same time, pressed by the culture to downplay its Catholicity in the name of tolerance. The Church in America lost its way. The result? A widespread loss of Catholic identity; the weakening of fidelity to Church teachings; Catholics abandoning their faith; and a diminishment of the Church's role as a moral voice in American society.
Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen wrote: “…liberal Christianity...denies what Christ meant when He said, ‘Depart from me ye cursed into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels’” (Life is Worth Living, p.321). Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen also said: “There is no word more dangerous than liberalism, because to oppose it is the new unforgivable sin.” [iii] When you live in reality, you become conservative. When you live in a dream world, you become a liberal.
Anti-Catholic leftists have no regard for the truth as they seek to impose their godless secular agenda on America. Liberals in the Democratic Party have helped form fake Catholic organizations with the sole purpose of confusing and misleading gullible Catholic voters prior to elections. What makes these fake Catholic groups even more dangerous is the undeniable fact that there are plenty of wolves in sheep’s clothing among the US clergy – bishops and priests – who are only too willing to give political cover to pro-abortion, anti-marriage so-called Catholic politicians. As our bishops instructed back in 1998: “We get the public officials we deserve. Their virtue or lack thereof is a judgment not only on them, but on us.” [iv] The great temptation for a Catholic, whether layman or churchman, is to allow himself to be attracted by the world and wish to become part of it, being accepted and admired.
Our Holy Father Pope Francis uses phrases like:
1. Accompaniment
2. Who am I to judge
3. Reach out to those in the periphery
4. We must accommodate
5. Exchange ideas over a cup of gelato
6. Going out to the margins
7. Having an encounter
8. Meeting people where there at
9. Dialogue
These are all phony excuses to not call people to repent. The liberals have used this on a universal level. The liberals have the answer before they ask the question. They’re trying to change the Church by having Synods of Synodality. The liberals already have their minds made up; the Synods are a trojan horse, smoke in mirrors, and parlor tricks. Dialogue is a throwaway word to the left to make you feel like you have equal footing and a voice in the Church. Catholic dialogue must lead you to a knowledge of Jesus Christ.
The Synod on Synodality is the great reset of the church. Any bishop not objecting to the synod is causing serious scandal. Only 1% of Catholics were surveyed, non-Catholics and anti-Catholics were surveyed as well; this synod is a total fraud. The Church synods are being used to politicize the Catholic Church, to use her presence on all five continents to implement an anti-human, left wing agenda. We would be openly protesting these synods if they were promoting some political agenda, like racial superiority or white privilege, for example.
For 2000 years the Church has proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is her purpose, nothing more, nothing less. To instrumentalize her for political ends will end in disaster. The Church has been under attack for decades by modernist, Marxist, and Freemasons, these are the three mortal enemies running the Church and are proposing to change the timeless teachings of Jesus Christ.
The synods claim to be a listening session but the only people that Rome is listening to are liberal woke heterodox Catholics. They’re NOT listening to what Our Lord Jesus Christ says about marriage and sin. Let’s call it what it is, the synod is a soft Vatican III.
