NOVENA FOR YOUR DECEASED RELATIVE OR FRIEND
QUESTION? / COMMENT!
My Mother recently passed away and I was hoping that you could tell when we could start the Novena. Before or after the burial. Also would you have the information on the Holy monks that pray for the souls that are in purgatory?

So so sorry about the loss of your mother.
Novena comes from the latin word novem, meaning nine. It is a popular devotion that involves prayers over nine consecutive days or sometimes weeks and is usually for a person who has recently died or you can pray a novena for a particular intention or event.
To answer your question, you can begin to pray a novena any time you choose to, but obviously you would want to pray for the repose of the soul of your loved one as soon as possible. As soon as possible, can be a number of things: You can begin a novena on the day of the death of the loved one or wait until after the burial of the loved one or anytime inbetween. This is what the Romero's do when a family member, friend etc....we begin praying a novena for the repose of the soul of our family as soon as our loved one passes.
You can read "What are Gregorian masses" https://www.catholic.com/magazine/online-edition/a-golden-ticket-out-of-...
Also you can offer up Gregorian Masses from these two religious orders and I am sure there are many more...these are the ones we have used:
Marians of the Immaculate Conception - https://forms.marian.org/mass/form.php
Seraphic Mass Association - https://mymassrequest.org/request-a-mass/gregorian-masses
May the repose of the soul of your mother rest in peace.
