WAR MAKES FOR STRANGE BEDFELLOWS
Here is the background to the reason there is criticism of this strike against Iran, it’s because Israel is involved, this causes heart burn to many people. I understand their concern, let me give you some context. Here is the concern.
In orthodox traditional Catholicism, the prevailing teaching is that the Jewish people do not have a current divine right to the land of Israel, but they do possess a natural right to a homeland. Countries historically have carved out their borders through wars and political treaties.
The Catholic Church rejects the premise that modern Jewish sovereignty over the Holy Land is a direct fulfillment of biblical prophecy or a divine promise.
Traditional Catholic teaching emphasizes the Church as the "New Israel" and the baptized followers of Christ as the "New People of God." Catholics have shifted the focus (based on the Words of Jesus Christ) from a geographically defined land to a spiritual kingdom.
While the Church acknowledges the Jewish people's special role in God's plan (cf. Romans chapter 9-11), the Church has avoided declaring their current possession of the land as a divinely ordained necessity, Zionist do claim the land as divinely ordained, that’s what justifies Israel’s participation in this conflict.
After the re-establishment of Israel in 1948, the Holy See clarified that the Jewish people, like all nations, have a natural right to their own land and self-determination. Some Protestants may personally believe the land is part of an irrevocable divine promise, while apostolic Churches view the modern state as strictly a temporal political entity.
The official stance of the Holy See continues to support a two-state solution that recognizes the natural rights of both Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace and security.
Providing this background, just because Israel is our wingman in a justified precision strike against an evil theocratic regime (Ayatollah Khamenei) that has persecuted Christian’s and Zoroastrians for 47 years and has sponsored terrorism around the globe, Iran had concrete plans to assassinate President Donald J. Trump and is awash with millions of dollars for their military and terrorism projects given to them by former United States Presidents, Barack Obama and Joseph Biden.
All that being said, “war makes for strange bedfellows.” A well sourced article - "15 times enemies became friends. The transformation from wartime enemies to steadfast allies is fairly common - https://historycollection.com/15-times-enemies-became-allies-for-strange.... The opposite is also true, some countries that were once friends sometimes become enemies. Yes, history is full of "alliances of convenience" that shattered once a common enemy was defeated, often turning former friends into bitter rivals. Their is a poetic statement that says: "All is fair in love and war." That's the attitude of doing whatever it takes, even if it's deceptive or ruthless—to win a military victory. Thankfully we have the Geneva Conventions which are a series of international treaties that establish humanitarian standards for the treatment of victims of war. The documents of the Geneva convention were heavily influenced by St Augustine and St Thomas Aquinas writings on the Just War Doctrine.
In conclusion, we have the right person, President Donald J. Trump, in the Oval Office who in his heart is a man of peace. Let’s continue praying daily for our nation and for world peace and trust in the Lord first and foremost.
