Answer!

HOW TO RESIST TEMPTATION

God allows the evil one to tempt us because the struggle against temptation benefits us spiritually and we grow in grace.

If you experience a temptation that is not a sin, only if you consent to the temptation is that a sin.

Resisting temptation helps you grow in virtue and gain merit (rewards).

Humble yourself before God and stay close to Jesus and Our Lady during a temptation.

If temptations come at night when you go to bed start regular bedtime prayers before you go to sleep.

In this life you will never be completely free from temptation to sin. God allows this because temptations show us how weak we are, and how much we need His grace to live a truly Christian life. Temptation also helps us detach our affections from the things of this world which are temporary.

Play Christian music in your room as your going to sleep.

Pray the rosary before falling to sleep to help fill your mind with holy and pious thoughts rather than impure thoughts.

Pray to the Lord for the “grace of forgetfulness” (so that the Lord can wipe away all your sinful memories and thoughts).

Read the Bible before you go to bed. Time spent in the Word of God builds up your immune system against the poison of sinful thoughts.

Wear blessed objects around your neck, go to sleep with a rosary in your hand.

The best way to become free of sinful thoughts is to think about something else immediately or think about the exact opposite of the sinful thought.

When sinful thoughts come your way – work out and fast. Train your mind to control your body.
