Reopening Houses Of Worship

QUESTION?

Hi Jesse, love listening to you and Terry's programs.  Today I sent an email to our pastor asking if he would be opening our church for live mass this weekend given the new designation for churches as being "essential" by the CDC and President Trump.  I know the decision doesn't lay with him, but rather the Bishop of our diocese. I Haven't received a reply but I expect it will be negative especially after reading a news feed that Bishop's in the state of Washington issued a joint statement saying they are not going to open their churches until it is "safe" to do so.  They are working with the Democrat governor and state health officials to determine when "it is safe".  Sounds to me that it'll be a long time, maybe after the November elections, that we will be able to attend a live mass. I feel the Catholic Church, in most cases, is on the wrong side of the issue.  As you know, Protestant churches are vowing to open regardless of the orders from the State Of California.  The Catholic Church remains silent and has not shown any support for other faith groups.  Sorry Jesse I'm just venting. I'm disappointed in our church leaders as they refuse to muster the courage to stand up for the rights of the laity.  So, I'll keep praying from the confines of my home.  Thanks for listening.

ANSWER!

Thanks for sharing! We are living in very confusing times, we have feckless leaders right now in the Catholic Church. I hear you loud and clear.
