So if we don't become angels after we die, what happens?
ANSWER!
Angels and humans are different species. You don't every become another species in this life or the next. When you die your soul separates from your body, your body is buried, your soul is judged immediately by God. You will either go to heaven, hell or purgatory (which is temporal). Those in purgatory are enroute to heaven after undergoing purification
