I pray out of Fr. Chad Ripperger’s Deliverance Prayers Book just about every day.
There is a section on pg. 26 in italics (last paragraph, last sentence), which says that “It is also salutary to have Masses offered in reparation for any sin that may be the cause of the generational spirit as well as healing of the members who may still suffer the effects of the evil spirit and for the repose of any souls in Purgatory that may still be there as a result of sins they committed at the behest of the evil spirit.”
I pray these prayers just about everyday, but I am assuming it is for the generations spirits on my side. My husband goes to weekly Mass but is not fully practicing his Catholic faith. He has not been to confession or Holy Communion in years. So I haven’t asked him to pray the prayers because I think he needs to be in the state of grace for it to be effective and even to prevent more diabolical problems. Am I correct in this thinking?

If my prayers, are not effective for the generational spirits from my husband’s side, is there a way for me to pray or have prayers said to protect my children and grandchildren from his side.

Exodus 20:5 (RSV) “you shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me…”
Exodus 34:4,6-7 (RSV) “So Moses cut two tables of stone like the first; and he rose early in the morning and went up on Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand two tables of stone…The LORD passed before him, and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children's children (grandchildren), to the third and the fourth generation." The father does not pass on evil genes or evil DNA, its not deterministic, it’s a privation of grace, it leaves the children vulnerable.

if so, would having the Masses said as I have quoted above, cover both sides of the generational spirits? Do I have to know what nature of the generational spirit is the for both sides in order to have the Masses said AND where would I go to have these Masses said.

You are trying to close doors and your husband keeps on opening doors to evil spirits. You must work and pray and fast for the conversion of your husband, only the Patriarch can close the door to the diabolic from attacking the marriage and children.
