MORALITY IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

QUESTION? / COMMENT!

Is having an Intrauterine Device (IUD), a contraceptive, and a mortal sin? I have fibroid and my iron level is really low. My doctor prescribed it to me, and she said my other option would be to have all of my reproductive organs removed. I was not ready to do that. My husband and I still wanted to have children but at this age, we are almost fifty it might be better to adopt. Also are we living in mortal sin by not being married in the Catholic Church? We are married through the court only. He does not want to be a Catholic and prefers to stay Protestant Christian?

ANSWER! / COMMENT!

A Catholic using contraception with full knowledge and by your own free will knowing that it is immoral is guilty of mortal sin. Read CCC 2370. A Catholic is bound by Church law to marry in the Catholic Church because it is the one true Church and since you are part of the family of God in the one true Church you are bound by the household rules of this Church which prescribe for her children to marry in the Catholic Church by a Catholic Priest.
