THE LITTLE MAN

I went to a Charismatic series given at our parish.  At one point, I was in a room with about a dozen ladies, and a short little man was going around putting chrism oil on our foreheads to make us get “slain in the Spirit”.  All the ladies fell backward, and the spotter helped them down, but I didn’t.  The chrism guy came to me and pressed chrism into my forehead, trying to make me lose my balance and to fall backward, but I stayed up, so he pressed harder!  But I didn’t lose my balance, so he gave up.
I don’t know why they were willing to cooperate, and I found this idea apalling that this little man was going around trying to make ladies get “slain in the spirit”.  It seemed weird and gross, like he was supposed to have the power to make the ladies swoon, or something.

Well said, this lil man who believes he has power to make ladies swoon, this feeds his ego and his lower faculties. It makes the ladies needy and attached to someone they believe has spiritual power. It makes them 'spiritual heroin addicts' and it fills this lil man with pride.
