HOW TO HELP YOUR UNEVANGELIZED FAMILY MEMBER

QUESTION? / COMMENT!

My convert mother is 80 years old and in declining health. After years of me wondering if she prayed the rosary every day I said to her “A Catholic is on the team if they pray the rosary daily. Are you on the team Mom?” She responded “No, I only pray that when I have to”. Since COVID and the churches being shut down, she stopped attending weekly Mass, her faith is waning and I’m afraid for her soul. In the past, and in anger, she once mentioned she didn’t care what Jesus says. She places the family ahead of Jesus, Mary and the church. Any family event she wants to make sure everyone is there and upset if someone is missing. What can I do to help my mother in her faith journey? I know I don’t have any authority here since she’s MY mother so what can I do? I do have the Deliverance Prayers for Use by the Laity and the Auxilium Christianorum app is on my phone but don’t always pray those.

You must do the below prayers everyday for the rest of your life for the conversion of loves ones.

1.  Pray the chaplet of divine mercy at 3pm or whenever you can. “If you say this prayer (the Divine Mercy), with a contrite heart and with faith, on behalf of some sinner I will give that soul the grace of conversion” - https://www.divinemercy.org/elements-of-divine-mercy/3-o-clock-prayer/10...

2.  Also, pray the rosary everyday for your family (together if you can or separately) so that your prayers can ‘merit for him/her the grace of conversion.’ Our Lady says in promise no.11 (of the Fifteen Promises of the Rosary).  "You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the rosary."

3.  Deliverance Prayers for Use by the Laity p..35 'Commission of the care of soul and body (for one other person).

Your prayers become more efficacious as you become holier (cf. James 5:16) and your role (as parents) is to pray & do penance for the conversion of your family. That means you must live a clean life (in a state of grace, monthly confession, Sunday Mass, daily prayers, free from mortal sin). How about adding a weekly holy hour in front of the blessed Sacrament to merit the grace of conversion for your children. Offer you prayers and Holy Communion at Mass for their conversion, try to go to an extra Mass throughout the week (Sundays for sure) and offer your prayers and Holy Communion for him/her. For your evening prayers add this,  – www.auxiliumchristianorum.org. It is a prayer to keep your house, your family and your marriage protected from evil spirits.
