Does Jesus pray or answer us?

August 29, 2017

QUESTION?

1.  Does Jesus pray for us?

2.  Does He pray for us or answers us? I know he prayed in flesh with the Apostles here on earth. So when we say in example " St. Teresa Pray for us" well she prays for us.  So do we also say " Jesus pray for us".

3. If he's God why is He still the Mediator? I understand the Trinity and He is God so maybe I'm more misinterpreting the word Mediator.  Thank you. Jesus is Real. Have a great day Psalms 119:127

ANSWER!

Jesus prayed for us on earth - & John 17:20-23, now, he continues to "intercede for us in heaven" or as scripture says. Read Heb. 7:25; Rom. 8:34; 1 John 2:1.

He intercedes for us in heaven before the Father as the 2nd person of the Holy Trinity. Archbishop Fulton Sheen said Jesus is forever presenting his 5 holy wounds to the Father on our behalf.

As the 2nd person of the Trinity He answers our prayers or denies them along with the Father and the Holy Spirit. This is known as the doctrine of circumincession, which means wherever one of the persons of the Holy Trinity is present, all of them are present. We ask the saints to pray for us. For example we say, "Holy Mary mother of God, pray for us..."When we ask Our Lord Jesus Christ, we usually say either, "save us...have mercy on us....or.....Lord hear our prayer."

Because Jesus is 100% God and 100% Man, only Jesus can be the mediator between God the Father and the human race. Because Jesus is the God Man. He came from heaven (divinity) and became a man in Mary's womb (humanity). So he is the only person who is qualified to be the Savior and mediator of the human race.

Jesus prayed to inform Christians about the importance of communicating with God the Father. Jesus taught Christians how to pray (Matt. 6:9), and Jesus is our example & model. John 13:15 says, "I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do."

Why did Jesus need to pray at all? Why did Jesus pray out loud, audibly? Could God the Father hear His Son if He prayed silently? Of course. However, Jesus told us why He prayed right before He raised Lazarus from the dead: "So they took away the stone. And Jesus raised his eyes and said, “Father,* I thank you for hearing me. 42I know that you always hear me; but because of the crowd here I have said this, that they may believe that you sent me.” John 11:41-42.

Jesus prayed audibly so that the people would believe. Jesus and the Father are one (John 10:30)--that is one in purpose and one in essence. They are totally united, one in purpose, one in thought and one in deed. Jesus is very unique as God, the only human being who is God incarnate. He is the “only begotten.” What does “begotten” mean?

Begotten, (Greek=monogenes, i.e. mono=”one” genes=Father-Son relationship) or "one of a kind," per John 1:1 and John 1:14. There has never been anybody like Jesus, and there will never be another like Him. He was totally unique, God incarnated. Jesus emptied Himself (Philippians 2:6-9) and took upon him flesh, a second nature where He experienced exhaustion, thirst, suffering, death, and resurrection.

The Bible says that Jesus is God, not "a" god like a false god (see Isaiah 9:6, John 14:9, John 20:28, etc.). In fact, we know Jesus is the one true God because He said that He can only do what His Father does. Jesus said, "Jesus answered and said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, a son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees his father doing; for what he does, his son will do also" John 5:19. Have you ever wondered why Jesus the Son cannot do something of Himself? He says that He can only do what the Father does. This is the way Jesus conveys that He has a special divine relationship with God, His Father. It is special because Jesus and the Father are One in essence!

There should be no doubt that Jesus is God. The Bible says: Philip said to him, “Master, show us the Father,* and that will be enough for us.” 9Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? John 14:8-9.

When we see Jesus face to face, we will be face to face with God. There is no separating the One True God.
