DOES GOD DIRECT PAPAL ELECTIONS?

ANSWER!

Though the Holy Spirit is invoked by the Cardinals, it doesn’t mean the Cardinals are not blinded with their own modernist, liberal, social justice ideology which overrides the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Papal elections are never a sure bet. God doesn’t force the Cardinals to vote a certain way. Look at Church History, we’ve had some really dirt bags that have become Pope. God does what he does in spite of their bad actions. That’s kinda the advantage of being God, knowing the future and being omnipotent and working His divine providence in spite of bad Popes and Cardinals. Even people who pray to the Holy Spirit can by their own free will resist the Holy Spirit by following their concupiscence.

Acts 7:51 (NIV): “You stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit!”

Ephesians 4:30 (NIV): “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” This verse implies that one can act in ways that negatively affect their relationship with the Holy Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:19 (NIV): “Do not quench the Spirit.” This suggests that it is possible to suppress or resist the influence of the Holy Spirit in one's life.

These verses indicate that human beings have the capacity to resist or grieve the Holy Spirit.
