CHURCH MILITANT PRESS RELEASE

June 2, 2023

CHRISTIANS OBJECT TO DRAG QUEEN NUNS AT DODGERS STADIUM

DETROIT (June 1, 2023) - Church Militant, a Catholic apostolate, is working with other Christian organizations to object to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ invitation of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (a leading-edge order of “queer and trans nuns”) on its Pride Night, June 16.

A prayerful procession will begin at 4:30 p.m. PDT. The procession will move from the Cathedral of Our Lady Queen of Angels to Dodger Stadium. Participants are encouraged to wear red in honor of the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which is also June 16.

Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), a Catholic, questioned the Dodgers, “Do you believe that the Los Angeles Dodgers are being ‘inclusive and welcoming to everyone’ by giving an award to a group of gay and transgender drag performers that intentionally mocks and degrades Christians?”

Inclusivity is a two-way street. Awarding a group that hates and mocks Catholic teaching, and thus faithful Catholics, logically forfeits the Dodgers’ appeal to authentic inclusivity.  The juxtaposition of the Dodgers’ Pride Night and the Church’s Feast of the Sacred Heart reveals the starkest of contrasts. The Sacred Heart is the very symbol and reality of Christ’s inimitable humility, which breaks the folly of fallen humanity’s pride and frees those who love Him from the guilt of sin that chains men to the pits of Hell. The Catholic Church teaches what She teaches for the salvation of souls. She offers the truth in love. Individuals are free to embrace or to reject Her. Unlike the SPI, the Church as such mocks nobody. Church Militant was established in 2008, then known as “Real Catholic TV,” by Michael Voris, S.T.B., to help educate Catholics on the Faith and save souls. Since then, it has grown exponentially, reaching over 3 million viewers per month on topics of culture, politics and news.

The Statement

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence group describes itself as "a leading-edge order of queer and trans nuns." Nuns are religious women who live under vows of poverty, chastity and obedience – vows to God the irreligious Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence openly mock by lewdly parodying authentic Catholic nuns. Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla), a Catholic, questioned the Dodgers, “Do you believe that the Los Angeles Dodgers are being ‘inclusive and welcoming to everyone’ by giving an award to a group of gay and transgender drag performers that intentionally mocks and degrades Christians?”Inclusivity is a two-way street. Awarding a group that hates and mocks Catholic teaching, and thus faithful Catholics, logically forfeits the Dodgers’ appeal to authentic inclusivity. The SPI further claim to “use humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces of bigotry, complacency and guilt that chain the human spirit.” Dictionary.com defines “bigotry” as “stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief or opinion that differs from one’s own.” The Catholic Church teaches what She teaches for the salvation of souls. She offers the truth in love. Individuals are free to embrace or to reject Her. The Church, as such, mocks nobody. In comparison, the SPI openly make fun of the Catholic Church. They demonstrate utter contempt for the Church’s teachings and thereby display their actual bigotry. The juxtaposition of the Dodgers’ Pride Night and the Church’s Feast of the Sacred Heart, which fall on the same day, reveals the starkest of contrasts. Pride is the first and deadliest of all sins. Pride transforms angels into demons and men into monsters. Pope Pius XII once asked rhetorically, "Can a form of devotion surpassing that to the most Sacred Heart of Jesus be found?" The Sacred Heart is the very symbol and reality of Christ’s inimitable humility, which breaks the folly of fallen humanity’s pride and frees those who love Him from the guilt of sin that chains men to the pits of Hell.
