Christ stands at the right hand of the Father

October 1, 2021

The understanding of human history is at the cross. That's why the Vatican Council told us that the whole spiritual life of the Church is summed up in the Eucharist: in the sacrifice, in the sacrament, in the Lamb of God. We will have to wait for the reading of that scroll. In the  meantime, Heaven is responsive to what happens on earth. Heaven is responsive, certainly, to what is happening to the Church in each part of the western world and all over the world. As a matter of fact, when, for example, St. Paul [then Saul] began to persecute the church of Damascus, as the church in Warsaw might be persecuted today, the heavens were opened and the Lamb spoke.  'Why are you persecuting me?' Not in the past tense, but the present. It was Christ standing at the right hand of the Father. We say in the Apostles' Creed, 'He sits at the right hand of the Father.'  When the Church is persecuted, Christ stands at the right hand of the Father. For the sake of the Church in the eastern part of the world and in Asia, he's standing. See how responsive heaven is to what happens to the Church? When Stephen was stoned, he, too, saw the heavens opened and Christ standing at the right hand of the Father.
