You Can Criticize the Pope
Remember, Jesus did not guarantee that the Pope and Bishops would be infallible in matters of pastoral practice.
As Pope Benedict XVI famously wrote in the introduction to Volume 1 of the series ‘JESUS OF NAZARETH’: It goes without saying that this book is in no way an exercise of the magisterium [that is, the Church's teaching authority], but is solely an expression of my personal search “for the face of the Lord” (cf. Ps 27:8). Everyone is free, then, to contradict me. October 9, 2017 (http://lifesitenews.com/) – The future Pope Benedict XVI warned in the early 1970s that popes might make “pronouncements” that were inconsistent with the Catholic Church’s authentic and historic doctrine, which would necessitate “criticism” of those pronouncements - https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/criticizing-papal-pronouncements-is-necessary-when-they-lack-support-says-f

Does Patrick Madrid believe a Pope can be rebuked? Yes, read his book "Pope Fiction" pages 56 to 67. Pat Madrid has a whole chapter on "can you rebuke the Pope" in his book Pope Fiction.
Objectively speaking we have had 16 horrible Popes, some were absolute monsters. I defend the Papacy, individual Popes are subject to criticism, especially when their misusing their authority. I remember about 25 years ago, I use to think all the Popes and Bishops walked on water, not so, only JESUS walks on water, no one else. The Pope is the successor of Peter (who was a sinner), he is not the successor of Jesus who is God.
Vatican I expert Fr. Chad Ripperger PhD, in his book "Magister Authority" shows that almost all Francis apologists be they liberal, conservative or traditionalist are "proximate to heresy...[T]reating ALL papal statements as if they are infallible...is proximate to heresy because it rejects the precise formulation of the conditions of infallibility as laid out in Vatican I...by essentially saying the pope is infallible regardless of conditions...Worse still, those who were to follow a Pope who was in error in a non-infallible teaching which is taught contrary to something that is infallible is not, therefore, excused" (Magisterial Authority, Pages 5-14).
Pope Innocent III (1198-1216) “Let no mortal being have the audacity to reprimand a Pope on account of faults, for he whose duty it is to judge all men cannot be judged by anybody, unless he should be called to the task of having deviated from the faith.
