QUESTION? / COMMENT!

Jesse, can demons hear my prayers if their silent?

ANSWER! / COMMENT!

Yes, because you can project prayers without words. Angels project knowledge without words as well. “Angels…communicate by mental telepathy” (Angels & Demons, Ignatius Press, p.65). When you are praying in silent meditative or contemplative prayer, even though you are not speaking words you are projecting prayers (Gods Word) into the cosmos. In prayer, your emotions are projected as well and demons can detect these affections coming from heart. Much like a husband and wife can communicate with each other without words, its that simple touch, that gaze into each others eyes which speaks a thousand words. There is a term that describes this, it’s called “kinesics”. It refers to movements and motions that we make with our body in a communicative nature (body language). Trained fighters and Policeman are very skilled at reading body language. Demons are much more intelligent than we are, plus they study us all day long. Fr William Wagner (Opus Angelorum): “Angels are pure intellect and pure will.” Demons act like actuaries*, because they can predict, based on statistical probability by observing your pattern of behavior. Demons will set up a temptation that you are vulnerable too; demons look at the pattern of your life and see if they can find a break. If they find that break in your pattern, they will exploit that person’s vulnerability.

* Actuary: a person who computes premium rates, dividends, risks, etc., according to probabilities based on statistical records.                                                                                                             Fr Fortea (Exorcist) – demons cannot read our thoughts, with their great intelligence, they can guess what we are thinking – but can never be absolutely certain. As spiritual beings, they are much more intelligent than we are, and as such, they can deduce things with greater accuracy and with fewer external signs than we can…This being said, if one directs his mind and will to a saint, an angel, or a demon, they can hear us. So it does not matter whether our prayer is verbal or merely mental. In certain cases of possession, I have observed that the demon obeys orders that have been given mentally” (Exorcism & the Church Militant; p.177).

St. Isaiah the Hermit (488 AD) sums up for us the grace of meditation: “Meditation melts our evil thoughts and withers the passions of the soul; it enlightens our mind, makes the understanding radiant, and fills the heart with joy. Meditation wounds demons, and drives away thoughts of wickedness. Meditation is a mirror for the mind and light for the conscience; it tames lust, calms fury, dispels wrath, drives away bitterness, and puts irritability to flight. Meditation illuminates the mind and expels laziness. From it is born the tenderness that warms and melts the soul.” Living in the presence of God is the key to becoming holy (this paragraph is from page 3 and 4 from my book: LORD PREPARE MY HANDS FOR BATTLE).
