BAD INFORMATION FROM ANTI-CATHOLIC PASTOR

My husband is Protestant, and I attend his church with him out of respect for our marriage. I remain fully committed to the Catholic faith, but I often hear teachings that seem to contradict what the Church teaches.

Recently, I listened to a sermon from First Baptist Church of Jacksonville (March 29, 2026 service), and a few points stood out to me that I believe may be incorrect. For example, the preacher stated that there were only 12 apostles and no more after them. He also said that Mary was sinful and that Jesus had biological brothers.

I want to respond in truth and charity, using Scripture, but I also want to make sure I fully understand and represent the Catholic position correctly. If you have any guidance, Scripture references, or resources that could help me explain these topics clearly and respectfully, I would be very grateful.

As far as the 12 apostles, I would add that Judas killed himself so the apostles chose Mathias as his replacement and the risen Lord chose Paul as the apostle to the gentiles.
