ADVICE FOR A WIFE WITH AN UNCOVERTED HUSBAND

October 3, 2025

QUESTION? / COMMENT!

For the past 2 years I have been trying to grow in my Catholic faith. I have completed Bible in a Year, Catechism in a year and I’m working on Rosary in a year. My husband is Lutheran but not practicing and goes to Mass with me every weekend for close to 26 years. He’s not ready to convert. I have been praying for him and after listening have adjusted how I pray. I ask that he see himself as God sees him and that I see him as God sees him while projecting an image of him at our Wedding (we were married in the Catholic Church) "Light of Christ Prayer, page 81 in "Lord Prepare My Hands for Battle" https://jesseromero.com/store/lord-prepare-my-hands-battle-20. I didn’t realize that I had a lane and that I needed to stay in it until I listened to your show. I’m working on the natural law authority structure.

I am listening to the podcasts from 2022. You are discussing books for serious Catholics. That is what I am striving for. Working on daily prayers, the Rosary and hoping to do a home Bible study with my husband. You speak of 3 books - Intro to the Science of Mental Health, Dominion and the Liber Christo Method Field Guide. I don’t know which book to start with or if you recommend somewhere else to start?  I feel like I should start with Idiots Guide to Catholicism .

I appreciate a suggestions you could offer in advance. I thank you for the work you are doing trying to save souls.

1) Idiot Guide to Catholicism

2) This is the Faith - a complete explanation of the Catholic faith; Canon Francis Ripley

3) There We Stood, Here We Stand : Eleven Lutherans Rediscover Their Catholic Roots by Timothy Drake (Author), Father Richard John Neuhaus (Foreword)

Nearly 500 years ago, Martin Luther broke with the Church. In There We Stood, Here We Stand, 11 former Lutherans talk about what brought them back. Edited by Catholic writer, Tim Drake, with a foreword by Rev. Richard John Neuhaus, these provocative testimonies reveal just how far the Lutheran church has strayed from traditional Christian teaching. Their stories address the differences between Lutheranism and Catholicism - differences so profound that they have led many into the Catholic Church.
