ADMONISH SIN IN CHARITY!
QUESTION?
Listening to the August 28, 2019 podcast! Great info!
If we are praying for healing with someone (imprecatory) Prayers - can we still pray with them even if they aren’t in grace? Like if the lady we are praying with is wanting us to pray with her, and she is living with her boyfriend, could we pray with her and then with love , tell her she has to get right with the church?
ANSWER!
Yes...you can pray with her deprecatory prayers not imprecatory...but you cannot pray OVER her by the laying on of hands, because you have no authority over her.
Out of charity...you need to strongly encourage her to stop living in fornication, and when she resolves to stop she can go to confession. She will not be absolved if she goes to confession while still living in a fornicating relationship.
This is what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says about fornication:
2353 - Fornication is carnal union between an unmarried man and an unmarried woman. It is gravely contrary to the dignity of persons and of human sexuality which is naturally ordered to the good of spouses and the generation and education of children. Moreover, it is a grave scandal when there is corruption of the young.
Matthew 15:19 For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, blasphemy.
1 Corinthians 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals
