Heaven has One Shepherd, One Bishop, One Priest and One Deacon

The word ‘Pontifex Maximus’ was the highest religious position in ancient Rome. It translates to the supreme High Priest. In heaven only Jesus Christ will be the ‘Pontifex Maximus’ and the ‘High Priest’ (Heb 3:1; 4:15; 5:1; 7:26). On earth we have had many Bishops since the 1st century Catholic Church.

*In heaven, Jesus will be the only Bishop and Shepherd of our souls (1 Peter 2:25).                     

*On earth we have had many Deacons, in heaven Jesus will be the only Deacon (Romans 15:8) of the Church Triumphant.                                                                                               

*Finally, we had apostles in the early Church, in heaven Jesus Christ is the only true everlasting apostle (Heb 3:1).                                                                                                          

*On earth we have had many ministers of the sanctuary, in heaven, Jesus is the only real minister of the sanctuary (Heb 8:2).                                                                                                   

*Jesus fulfills the threefold office of the clergy perfectly, permanently and forever (Heb 7:24).                                                                                                                                                       

*In heaven, Christ will be the center of it all, He is the alpha and the omega, and He sits on the throne forever (Rev 5:6, 13; 20:11; Isaiah 45:6; 103:19) because he is the KING of the AGES (cf. Rev 15:3).                                                                                                                        

*God is the “Ruler of all the nations” (Psalm 22:28). That is why no matter who is in charge civilly or spiritually, their offices are temporary, "keep your eyes on JESUS, the author and finisher of our faith" (cf. Hebrews 12:2). His office is eternal because He is eternal (cf. John 1:1-3) and His "covenant is eternal" (cf. Heb 13:20) and JESUS doesn't change, He "is the same yesterday, today and forever" (cf. Heb 13:8).

In heaven there will be no Presidents, Vice Presidents, Prime Ministers, Senators, Congressmen, Mayors, Attorney Generals, District Attorneys, Mayors, Councilmen, There will be no Popes, Bishops, Priests or Deacons either. In heaven, you will not be bowing and kissing any Pope, Bishop or Priests ring finger. In heaven, God is the only “Holy Father” (John 17:11). Why? All those offices were meant to keep civil and spiritual order in a fallen world. Government was given to give us external law to keep order, the Church leaders gave us internal law to keep order in the family and in the individual person. In heaven, everything is perfectly ordered by God forever. None of these civil or spiritual offices exist in heaven, they are no longer necessary. I don’t put my trust or hope in the princes of this world (cf. Psalm 146:3), I put my hope and trust in Jesus Christ (1 Tim 1:1).

God (Elohim) is a God of order, look at Genesis 1 & 2. Out of chaos God brings perfect order and harmony. Genesis 1:2 “the earth was without form and void,” in the original Hebrew its “tohu wabohu” two words which describe primordial earth’s twofold condition: formlessness and emptiness. God transforms earth from chaos to cosmos according to his power and plan (cf. Dr Hahn, ‘A Father who keeps his Promises’, p.43). Heaven is the household of God, it is a place of perfect order and harmony. Lastly, I forgot to mention, in heaven there will be no Doctors because JESUS will be our Divine Physician (Matt 9:12: Hosea 6:1; Psalm 147:3).
